Featured Artist Agreement #1 (No Royalty/Song Rights)
Featured Artist Agreement #1 (No Royalty/Song Rights)
A Featured Artist Agreement or Side Artist Agreement is a contract used when a record label, artist or producer hires a musician, singer or rapper who is not part of the artist's group or band to perform on an artist's recording but has some prominence and will receive a featured artist credit along with some royalties. This agreement provides that the featured or side artist will receive a one time payment for their services but will not receive a separate royalty from sales or exploitations of the recording. The agreement recognizes the featured or side artists contribution to the writing of the words and music to the song recorded.
This agreement does not address any union requirements. You still need an agreement with the Featured or Side Artist for other rights associated with their performance including royalties to be paid, song rights or rights to use the artist’s name and likeness. If a side artist is a member of a union then the contract may be amended to include any terms which are required by musician's (AF of M) or vocalist's (AFTRA) union.
